| Islas del Rosario (The Rosario Islands) Welcome to Paradise! Enjoy the Sun, the air, and the Open Sea as you cruise to a most beautiful place. The archipelago of Our Lady Of the Rosario, commonly known as The Rosario Islands is located 46 kilometers south east of the city of Cartagena in the northern coast of Colombia. The Rosario Islands cover an area of 120,000 hectares and are composed of 27 islands surrounded by transparent and clear turquoise color water. The islands have one of the most important colorful and beautiful coral reefs in the Caribbean and an excellent area for snorkeling or scuba diving. The islands were declared National Park due to the need to protect the reefs, and associated ecosystems, mangroves, and the many species of algae and animals that inhabit them. A one hour boat ride through the Bay and open sea of Cartagena via a safe high speed boat that fit about 25 people, a yatch, or a catamaran will bring you to Paradise, as you discover the clear turquoise waters and the white sand and spectacular beaches... The contrast between the intense blue and green sea and white-sand beach, puts anyone to dream. Big Island (See map here) As its name indicates Big Island is the largest of the Island of the Rosario Islands. It has about 200 hectares, and there are three distinctive ecosystems of the islands: the coastal and inland lagoons, mangroves and tropical forests very dry. Inside the island has charted a path of environmental interpretation where visitors can discover the natural resources of each. The island is also surrounded by clear turquoise waters. You can also find island resorts to spend a night or as many as you want. There is also a day trip where you can enjoy the beach, the sun, a typical lunch is included in most day trips. If you decide to spend a day, make sure to choose one of the beautiful sites within the Big Island or the surround islands. The Aquarium While you are on the island of your choice, don't forget to visit the Aquarium. There is an impressive open water aquarium, where you'll enjoy a dolphin show, sharks, giant turtles, and all kinds of tropical reef fauna. Here you can also find The Oceanarium where you can appreciate the beauty and color of the marine life, as well as nice guided visit on platforms over the water, where you can see the dolphins and sharks show.
